Main Purpose of Role

The IT and MIS Manager role is responsible for managing the organisation’s information technology and management information systems to ensure the smooth operation of technology infrastructure and the effective use of information for decision-making purposes.

Key Tasks & Accountabilities

  • Manage and maintain the organisation’s IT infrastructure, including hardware, software, networks, servers, and security systems.
  • Develop and implement IT policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure the security and integrity of data, systems, and networks.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to end-users, including hardware and software installation, maintenance, and upgrades.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and systems to improve efficiency, productivity, and performance.
  • Collaborate with other colleagues and suppliers to identify and prioritise IT/MIS needs and requirements.
  • Manage and oversee IT/MIS projects, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Conduct regular assessments and audits of IT systems and processes to identify vulnerabilities and risks.
  • Develop and deliver training programs and materials to educate users about IT policies, procedures, and best practice with support from external suppliers.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in IT and MIS.

Role Requirements

Skills

  • Proficiency in hardware and software installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of network administration, security protocols, and data management principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex situations and develop effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Project management experience.
  • Industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft, etc.) are desirable.

Knowledge & Experience

Proven experience in IT/MIS roles, with a strong understanding of information technology principles, practices, and standards.

Academic & Professional Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, management information systems, or a related field (or qualified by experience).
